Trend Alert: Baseball Hat

Hat and sweater

hat    Black Enzo
It’s not easy pulling off fashion trends without being 6 feet tall and a size zero, but just because you’re fun size (trust me, I get it) doesn’t mean you have to look crazy! Trend Alert (shorties included): Toss on a baseball hat with a super girly cardigan, tight leggings and edgy leather boots. Steal your boyfriend’s white tee for a touch of cuteness and, of course, comfort.

Don’t be afraid to look ridiculous.

Pink Skirt 1.13.14

It’s Monday and I’m feeling cute (or like a librarian, I can’t decide). I was a little hesitant about wearing this pink tulle skirt in the winter, but with black tights, a ribbed white blouse and forest green cardigan, it works! This week, try something different and don’t be afraid to look ridiculous. You just might find your new favorite outfit.

Winter Warning: Color Ahead.

Velvet Floral Jacket 1.10.14

Tan Booties and Clutch 1.10.14

This winter it’s all about texture… And don’t be afraid to rock it in color. Mixing both texture and color is the easiest way to create an outfit with interest. My choice? A multicolored floral velvet jacket paired with an orange sweater tank. Toss on colored jeans, a fun bracelet and neutral booties and you’ll be sure to turn some heads.

Jacket: Vintage find, similar by Topshop Floral Jacket (while searching for a similar jacket, I found these UNREAL pants. The print is almost identical to my vintage coat and I’m obsessed – had to share, Floral Pants); Jeans: [BLANKNYC], similar by KUT from the Kloth Cords not jeans, but LOVE!; Wallet: Free People, Wallet/Clutch; Booties: Steve Madden, similar Tan Booties; Sweater Tank: Unknown, similar by J.Crew Cashmere Tank.

Problem: It’s Cold. Solution: LAYERRRR UP!

Preppy 1.7.14

Problem: You get all bundled up to face this single-digit weather head on, but when you finally get to where you’re going, the heat is on full blast and you’re suddenly sweating like pig (oink oink). Solution: Layer your outfit with a long-sleeve shirt and a sweater vest. If it’s too hot, you can easily remove the vest without totally ruining your look and if you’re cold, roll the sleeves down to cover up! Love pairing this preppy look with some silver jewelry and a statement ring to add a girly touch. (Side note…totally okay to let your hair run wild in the winter. Embrace it!)

Brrrr. Let’s wear shorts!

NYE Crew 12.31.2013
Quick pic of me and my BFFs ringing in the New Year. Aren’t they cute!? It’s super cold out today (we got 2 feet of snow!!!), but if you think shorts are just a summer thing, think again. To get the most out of your closet, pick your fav patterned tights and toss them on with jean shorts for a wearable winter look.

3 ways to rock NYE

Aldo HeelsBlack Dress
LBD. Enough said. A must have for every girl and an easy go-to for a fancy night out. Add a belt and an elegant bracelet and you’re good to go! LOVE these open-toed booties with nearly any LBD, but for a more sophisticated look choose a simple heel. This LBD has a little sparkle to it too, making it the perfect choice for NYE.

Sweet NYEHat Shoes Jewelry
Even though going to a fancy party all dolled up on NYE sounds glamorous, sometimes we just hang with friends – and those are usually the best nights! Dress down (while dressing up) with ripped jeans, heels, a baggy tank, glittery jacket and a stack of bracelets. Tip: if you’re too lazy to get your pants hemmed (or you’re only 5’1” like me), try cuffing your wide leg jeans for a new twist on an old look.

Jacket: Vintage find; Jeans: Hollister, Destroyed Flare; Necklace: Forever21, similar by Kenneth Jay Lane Teardrop Pendant Necklace; Shoes: Steve Madden, Suede Pump; Hat: H&M, similar by Collection XIIX (Black) Sequin Hat; Bracelet 1: LOFT, Link Bracelet; Bracelet 2: LOFT, Crystal Flower Hinge Bracelet; Bracelet 3: Random find, similar by BAUBLEBAR Silver Pearl Stack

Rock
If you’re like me, you love to shake things up with your style. So dig deep into your closet, find an old love and dust off the cobwebs. Dress it up by adding a little spice to your sugar – can’t go wrong with a little ‘tude on NYE.

Day 1 and SO many more to come!

J.Crew girl's Leggings
Can’t get enough of these glasses lately. It’s too cold and dry out to be sticking fingers anywhere near your eyes, so why not make it fashionable! Loving statement jewelry right now. So simple to doll up any casual outfit with a killer necklace and plus, it’s nice to be unexpected…blinged-out necklace with a baggy sweater? LOVE.

Glasses: Prada Glasses; Lipstick: Mac Rebel; Necklace: Random find in Texas – yeehaw

striped leggings outfit 12.29.13
There’s nothing better than a lazy outfit for a lazzzzy Sunday. It’s rainy and yucky, but still so essential to look amazing…while practically wearing your PJs.

Leggings (totally shopping in the little girl’s section – no shame): J.Crew; Colorblock Sweater: Banana Republic, (Other Colors); Boots: Aldo (old)

We've all had those days where we've felt like the world was crumbling around us, but we always manage to muster up some courage, indulge in a little retail therapy (or more likely a lot) and try on every pair of shoes in our closet and to that, thank you fashion.
